Roadblocks this weekend have been announced for Skokie and Kane County

The United States Supreme Court has held that police can only set up “roadside safety checks” to check for drunk drivers if they meet certain conditions.  One of them is that they publicize the “roadblock” in advance, so that motorized who wish to avoid the inconvenience of backed up traffic can avoid them.

However, most news organizations don’t publicize these roadblocks, and it is up to the driver to search every police department’s press releases online.  I try to blog or tweet about it when I run into them.

So here is what I have seen for weekend:

The Illinois State Police has announced that they will hold a roadside safety check on the eastbound Route 31 exit to I-88 (Reagan Tollway) starting Friday at 11:00 p.m. through 4:00 a.m.

Skokie Police will have two roadblocks this weekend; one on Friday, August 17th starting at 11:15 p.m. through 3:15 a.m., at 8700 Skokie Blvd, and the other on Saturday, August 18th, from 11:15 p.m. through 3:15 a.m., at 8700 McCormick Blvd.

If I find any others, I will post them here.  If you know of any, send me an email or tweet!
